Why Go To An Art Museum? Cars!

While we were visiting in Portland, Oregon, this summer we went to the Portland Art Museum with Mike and happened to stumble upon an exhibit called "The Allure of the Automobile". Curated by the former director of the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, it showcases cars from the 30's to the 60's.

From the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting Coupe:

 to a 1937 Bugatti:

I remember when you could buy a Bugatti looking front end to put on your Volkswagen bug to make it look classy.

Here's a Mercedes Roadster from 1955 next to a 1957 Jaguar XK-SS Roadster once owned by Steve McQueen.

 and this 1961 Ferrari:

So if you are out in Portland before September 11, 2011, with a free afternoon, stop by the Art Museum  and see all the cars. I may not know art, but I know what I like: CARS!
